The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) named Mark Dorsey, FASAE, CAE, and CEO of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), as this year’s recipient of its Key Award, an annual recognition of an association CEO who shows “exceptional qualities of leadership” and “a deep commitment to voluntary membership organizations.”
“I am honored to be in the company of leaders who have received this recognition from ASAE in the past,” says Dorsey. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve CSI, and inspired by its leadership and our talented staff team as they innovate and take risks to serve CSI members and the construction industry well into the future. I am also humbled to serve the larger association community and the opportunities to work alongside other association colleagues as we convene competing interests and diverse communities to build trust and solve big societal problems.”
Since 2015, Dorsey has served as CSI’s CEO. The association is a national leader in the construction industry and is dedicated to improving the communication of construction information through education, professional certification, and continuous development and transformation of standards and formats. CSI members work tirelessly to effectively communicate the designers’ vision, the material producers’ solutions, and the constructors’ techniques to create outstanding facilities that meet facility owners’ objectives.
“At CSI, we’re working to help the construction industry and its practitioners navigate disruptors such as rapid technological advances, workforce shortages, and increasingly rapid pace of work,” Dorsey added.
“As design and construction professionals steeped in the technical documentation of a given project, change can come hard,” says Arthur “Cam” Featherstonhaugh IV, CSI board chair. “Mark’s partnership with the board enabled us to make dramatic and positive changes to our views about technology, see and promote the deeper values of CSI, and take risks to benefit our professional lives.”
