Beaverton High School (BHS), the oldest high school in the city and the largest project in the bond, has broken ground on its complete rebuild.
The project, undertaken by Skanksa, will comprise a 27,917 m2 (300,500 sf), three-story building with a 1,439 m2 (15,500 sf) enclosed courtyard.
Construction work includes a new academic and gymnasium building, as well as new student and staff parking lots, athletic field structures, and landscaping.
The new building will include prefabricated exterior walls, solar panels, skylights, and windows for natural light.
The school’s current standalone cafeteria building will remain, with a new covered walkway connecting it to the new academic and gymnasium building. The new academic spaces will also entail a new shop space. The construction plan also includes a modernized performing arts area and athletic field improvements. The new theater will have cedar wood to improve acoustics.
The estimated opening date is fall 2026.
