LMN Architects recently celebrated the completion of the Graystone Residential Building in Seattle. The building’s design is divided in three parts (the podium level, the tower, and the crown)—all relating to the surrounding context.
The 27,406 m2 (295,000 sf) building comprises 271 residential units and is LEED silver certified.
The first five floors are the podium level and are made of concrete masonry units (CMU) masonry. The remaining 29 floors form a glass and steel tower with horizontal bands divided into four vertical quadrants. The rood offers a view of the skyline. The building also uses aluminum composite panels (ACM) cladding and a glass curtain wall.
The western, sunset-facing deck offers active spaces with barbeques, tables, and chairs, while the east-facing deck has a firepit, benches, and lounge chairs.
