The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) released a draft of its seismic report for public review on its website.
Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings is a companion to the Specification for Structural Steel Buildings, extending coverage to connection detailing and member design requirements for structural steel and composite systems in locations where there may be earthquake threats.
“This public review draft incorporates the latest developments in seismic design, thanks to the efforts of our volunteer committee members, including fabricators, consulting engineers, and educators,” said Charles Carter, AISC vice-president and chief structural engineer. “This document will be released in 2016, and will ultimately replace the 2010 version of this standard. The 2016 AISC Seismic Provisions provides moment-frame, braced-frame, and shear-wall systems that will make any architectural vision in a high-seismic region possible and practical.”
The report draft, along with comment forms, will be available on the AISC website until May 29.
