Plans have been revealed for ‘1550 on the green,’ a 28-story office tower designed by Bjarke Ingles Group (BIG) in downtown Houston, Texas.
The building will be designed with construction firm Skanska’s tenant-first approach, focusing on sustainability and tenant wellness throughout the building.
According to Designboom, “the tower will feature extra-wide pedestrian zones with a canopy of trees, two tenant-exclusive outdoor roof terraces located on the 12th and 20th floors, and wide views of the surrounding greenery, allowing tenants to experience the benefits of nature both inside and outside the building.”
Skanska has signed a 15-year lease with the international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright for the planned office development. The project is located in Houston’s Central Business District, adjacent to Discovery Green and close to the Bank of America Tower.
The building is being designed to achieve the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification. Project start and construction order booking is expected to be announced once all required permits have been received.
