Autocamp Yosemite, located in Yosemite, Calif., sprawls across 14.2 ha (35 acres) amidst the Sierra Nevada Mountains. At the core of the campground stands a two-story, 371.6-m2 (4,000-sf) clubhouse seamlessly integrated into the gently sloping terrain.

Anacapa Architecture worked on the design and site planning of the retreat, while Geremia Design provided the project’s interior design. Reflecting a modern aesthetic that harmonizes with its surroundings, the clubhouse adapts to the site’s topography, mirroring its materiality and scale while drawing inspiration from mid-century lodgings. This design approach bridges the gap between natural and human-made elements.

The site also encompasses tailored Airstream trailers, luxurious tents, and cabins. A transformation of a former RV park, the resort prioritizes restoring the natural landscape and revitalizing the site.

The clubhouse’s sleek, rectilinear architecture complements the landscape. The finishes and furnishings blend sophisticated contemporary lines with rugged materials, using a palette of regional pine, concrete, steel, and glass. Fire pits strategically placed throughout the clubhouse offer views of the natural environment, fostering a communal experience. The clubhouse encompasses a scenic roof deck and an outdoor swimming pool.

On the ground floor are lounge spaces, a communal table, and a spa-inspired bathroom adorned with artisanal tiles and showers. The upper level is dedicated to events, corporate meetings, and other gatherings, featuring a glazed room that opens onto a wraparound terrace overlooking a heated swimming pool and a natural pond. Throughout the clubhouse, expansive views and a design ethos that values communal experiences celebrate the spirit and tradition of camping.
