During the recent World of Concrete (WOC) show in Las Vegas, concrete specialist, and a contributing author to The Construction Specifier, Ward Malisch, PhD, was honored with the Legacy Award.
The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the concrete and masonry industries and have left a lasting mark on the show.
Malisch earned three degrees in civil engineering at the University of Illinois. He became a civil engineering educator at three universities, but left the profession to work for the Aberdeen Group, where he served as editor of Concrete Construction magazine.
Malisch also held positions with the Portland Cement Association (PCA) as director of construction information services, the American Concrete Institute (ACI) as managing director of engineering, and now works at the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) as technical director.
His articles for The Construction Specifier have included looks at broomed exterior surfaces and collaborations between the flooring and concrete industries to harmonize differences between Divisions 03 and 09.
