Brightline West will be the United States’ first high-speed passenger rail system, operating from Las Vegas to Southern California.
This 350-km (218-mile) passenger rail service expects to serve more than nine million one-way passengers annually.
The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) recently signed the $3 billion grant agreement awarded to the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT).
This grant will provide the funding needed to develop a rail system that will significantly reduce travel time between the regions, offering a fast, efficient, and environmentally friendly alternative to road and air travel.
The Brightline West rail project will create more than 35,000 jobs, including more than 10,000 union construction jobs. Once operational, the project will include approximately 1,000 jobs.
Construction is expected to take about four years, with service beginning in 2028.
