When it comes to acoustic comfort, open-office plans do not always get high marks. Nevertheless, they are the environments found in many green buildings, including those certified to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. These spaces should provide freedom from distracting noises to enable them to perform tasks without disrupting others. The well-recognized benefits of improving the auditory environment not only includes increased productivity, but also reduced error rates, stronger morale, and decreased absenteeism.
