The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat[2] (CTBUH) was selected as the 13th recipient of the Henry C. Turner Prize for Innovation in Construction.
The award recognizes an advancement or high achievement in construction, such as an invention, an innovative methodology, or exemplary leadership. In 2001, Turner Construction Company[3] established an endowment to support the prize, and CTBUH received $25,000 in addition to the award.
The council was recognized for publishing technical papers, professional guidelines, and other materials developed by engineers and academics on almost every aspect of tall building construction. Through these publications, CTBUH has established itself as an industry leader when it comes to planning, designing, and constructing tall, supertall, and megatall buildings.
“We are honored to receive this recognition and will use the honorarium of $25,000 to conduct an audit of the cutting edge technologies across all fields contributing to all buildings,” said CTBUH’s chairman, David Malott. “We will create a positional paper that would be of value to all our membership, especially tall building developers who always want to know what the latest technologies are in each field.”
