Undertaken by Marlon Blackwell Architects, this project will replace an existing 80-year-old, 23-m (78-ft)-tall tower at Columbus Municipal Airport in Indiana.
The 39-m (129-ft) tower’s shape has been designed to resemble the aerodynamic lines of an aircraft and will be clad in aluminum and stainless steel. Renderings of the tower reveal a flat, geometric steel and aluminum-clad tower divided into recurrent layers. A viewing area divides the body of the tower and an uppermost volume.
Construction on the tower is estimated to begin in April 2025.
