The Shops at Hollywood Park redefines urban connectivity in Southern California, offering a walkable, pedestrian-friendly environment in a region historically defined by car culture.
The Hollywood Park retail district features buildings incorporating light-toned natural stone and mid-tone wood, reflecting the warmth of the Southern California landscape.
Various stucco finishes—from smooth monolithic applications to more textured surfaces—enhance the architectural character. Ornamental metalwork, canopies, and trellises were carefully designed to provide structural function and shade, contributing to the pedestrian-friendly environment.
The design is inspired by historical design principles, including the Golden Ratio and classical proportions. Public spaces, such as Century Plaza and the Promenade, were designed with layered massing and axial intersections.
The Shops at Hollywood Park was a ground-up construction project developed as part of the historic Hollywood Park Racetrack’s larger 121.4-ha (300-acre) transformation.
With 19 km (12 miles) of trails and 10.1 ha (25 acres) of parks, the district encourages walking, cycling, and outdoor engagement. It connects retail, dining, and residential spaces with nearby entertainment venues, including SoFi Stadium. The development honors the site’s history by reimagining the legacy of the Hollywood Park Racetrack while creating new opportunities for economic growth and community activation.
