Construction professionals from around the world are heading to Hollywood Beach, Florida for the 2016 International Reflective Insulation Manufacturers (I-RIM) conference from June 1 to 3.
The main focus of the conference will be education and technical data. It will showcase the latest advancements, research, and uses of reflective products from across the globe. Joshua New of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) will start off the event with a pre-show presentation teaching attendees how to use the Roof Savings Calculation on their laptops and will run demonstrations on its benefits and uses.
The conference has multiple speakers discussing various topics, including:
● “Commentary on ASTM C1224,” by David Yarbrough, president of R&D Services;
● “EU and U.S. Technologies and Strategies,” by Marc LaFrance from the U.S. Department of Energy;
● “The Role of Third-party Ratings in Supporting the Roofing Industry,” by Jeffrey Steuben, executive director for the Cool Roof Rating Council;
● “Mainstreaming the HERS Index,” by Laurel Elam, Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) conference coordinator; and
● “Field Evaluation of Radiant Barrier and Reflective Insulation Products in Malaysia,” by Teh Khar San, operations manager of San Miguel Yamamura Woven Products in Malaysia.
Another presentation, “Survey of Radiant Barrier and IRCC Modeling and Simulations,” will be delivered by Mario Medina, associate professor of civil, environmental, and architectural engineering at the University of Kansas.
