Once home to an RV park and drive-in theater, Ofland Escalante (formerly Yonder Escalante) in Utah is now a 6.8-ha (17-acre) destination venue designed by ANACAPA Architecture.
The new development consists of a 668-m2 (7,200-sf) clubhouse with a sprawling open-air patio covered by a 12-m (40-ft)-deep canopy.
Additionally, the venue offers 10 custom-designed 29-m2 (320-sf) cabins, each with 3.3 m (11 ft) ceilings and glass walls for guests to enjoy the stunning natural vistas.
The development further includes campsites and airstream accommodations, a swimming pool and hot tub, food truck, a 56-m2 (603-sf) laundry facility, and a shared 130 m2 (1,400-sf) bathhouse, complete with heated outdoor showers.
The building features weathering steel, concrete, and earth tone plaster.
The project team included interior design by Roy Hospitality Design, structural engineer services by Gilson Engineering, with the custom cabins fabricated by Drop Structures. The design team at ANACAPA Architecture comprised of Dan Weber (architect), Geoff April (project manager), and Tom Moss (designer). The firm also provided site design and programming.
Ofland Escalante was designed to encourage guests to engage with the spectacular natural surroundings of Utah. Casual, welcoming spaces were created to emphasize socialization, fostering an appreciation for the venue’s location on the high desert plateau.
