Knowledge Today, Innovation Tomorrow: CONSTRUCT show preview

Participants are also invited to step out of the classroom and enhance their educational experience with some local flair by participating in these Technical Tours:

  • John J. Sbrega Health & Science Building Tour—A Look into Achieving ZNE [Zero Net Energy]; and
  • Modern Technology, Traditional Sites—Incorporating New Innovations in Historic Buildings.

The tours provide continuing education units (i.e. AIA, ICC, and/or GBCI) and are offered on Wednesday, September 13.

CONSTRUCT also supports the future of the industry by offering educational opportunities for young professionals
(35 and younger) who are looking to learn, network, and enhance their careers. One such offering is Young Professionals (YP) Day, which is a full day of education, mentoring, and fun held on Wednesday, September 13.

On the social front, CSI will hold several events designed to foster industry connections and, of course, have fun! It hosts a New England-style Clambake (with music, food, prizes, and fun) at the Welcome Reception located at the Rhode Island Convention Center. There is also the Young Professional Mixer at the Trinity Brewhouse Thursday evening and, to close out the show, the always-popular CSI Night Out takes place Friday evening at Skyline at Waterplace. (Nonmembers are also welcome to join these events.)

Nina Giglio, FCSI, CCS, of Perkins and Eastman, had good things to say about CONSTRUCT.

“This is an event that you can’t afford to miss. What a great opportunity to visit and explore Providence—a city with rich architectural interest, top-notch restaurants, and immense charm!” she said. “At the same time, CONSTRUCT also will feature a revamped education program with diverse presentations that you can’t get just anywhere—not to mention the ability to achieve learning units for AIA, CSI, GBCI, BOMI, and ICC. Of course, don’t forget the free live product demonstrations in the Learning Pavilion, and can’t-miss events like the Newcomer Reception and the CSI Honors and Awards.”

The city of Providence is aptly nicknamed the Creative Capital, and celebrated as a top dining destination and an arts mecca. The renowned Rhode Island School of Design has had a tremendous influence on the city’s arts community, with plenty of galleries, theaters, art installations, and other cultural attractions within walking distance of CONSTRUCT-preferred hotels offered by onPeak.
