The Mayor of London (United Kingdom), architecture firm Bryden Wood[2], and real estate firm Cast Consultancy[3] launched a new, data-led technology app to streamline the design and build of sustainable, quality homes.
They significantly upgraded the PRiSM[4] housing design app, which delivers a new solution to meet housing demand in London using modern methods of construction. The Precision Manufactured Housing (PMH) can be finished twice as fast as conventional developments, with an 80 percent reduction in construction traffic and waste.
The app, soft-launched last year, is open-source and free to use. It is an immersive interface set in a realistic and data-rich 3D environment. This includes existing buildings, London’s spatial planning rules, transport infrastructure, flood risk, and traffic flow modeling. Users can not only visualize their design, but also multiple data sets describing the neighborhood in which it sits.
