Atlantic Park is a transformative mixed-use development coming to Virginia Beach. Led by developer Venture Realty Group, the project will unify three city blocks in its initial phase.
Some other features of this project include a 1.08 ha (2.67 acres) surf lagoon that replicates natural waves, a 6,503 m2 (70,000 sf) entertainment venue that honors a cultural landmark called ‘The Dome,’ and a wide range of residential units of varying sizes.
Last month, the project reached the ‘bottoming out’ stage of construction, which involved reaching the lowest depths of the wave pool, which is the development’s centerpiece.
This milestone also marks a shift into operations mode for the project with the installation of the 46-module Wavegarden Cove, set to begin sometime in October. The technology will produce more than 20 different wave profiles spanning all levels of surfing, from beginners to professionals.
The design of Atlantic Park is a collaboration between firms Hanbury, Gensler, and Cooper Carry. It is estimated to be open in May 2025. The project is also backed by American singer and songwriter, Pharell Williams.
