RCI honors winners of document competition at convention

During its annual convention in March, RCI—the international association of consultants, architects, and engineers specializing in the specification and design of roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall assemblies—named the winners of its 2015 Document Competition.

The annual competition, which took place during the 30^th RCI International Convention and Trade Show in San Antonio, Texas, honors excellence in roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall construction project documentation by its members. First-place honors were given to Jeffery Levine and Rocco Romero.

Levine won two categories: “Report Writing” and “Large, Roofing/Waterproofing/Exterior Wall Project Documents in Construction Over $750,000.” He showed excellence in report writing in his entry on the Bradford County Courthouse in Towanda, Pennsylvania, as well as in his entry on Cornell University’s McGraw Hall in Ithaca, New York.

Romero won the “Small, Roofing/Waterproofing/Exterior Wall Project Documents in Construction under $750,000” for his work on Lane County Administration in Eugene, Oregon.

“Each year, RCI conducts a document competition to recognize leaders in the roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall consulting disciplines, who produce outstanding construction documents,” said Christopher Giffin, competition chairman. “The competition winners gain added recognition by their peers as being leaders, which can enhance and develop their businesses as well as that of others in the industry.”

First place honors received plaques and $1000 toward RCI products. All entries including first-, second-, and third-place winners will also be recognized in the June issue of Interface, the group’s monthly technical journal.

Next year’s competition categories will expand to include project reports, plans, and specifications for small projects with construction costs of less than $1 million and large projects worth more than $1 million.
