The second phase of the National Stormwater Calculator and Climate Assessment Tool has been released by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The desktop application is able to estimate the annual amount of stormwater runoff in specific locations. Now, the tool includes seasonal precipitation levels, effects of high-intensity storms, and changes in evaporation rates. Future climate scenarios have also been added to the program’s second phase in addition to local soil conditions, slope, landcover, and historical rainfall records found in phase one. Users are able to select various scenarios, and the tool will provide information regarding potential green infrastructure changes to reduce stormwater runoff.
