Cloud software and mobile app company, Canvas, released the results of its business app survey, focusing on industries with heavy paper-use, which included construction.

The annual survey, in its second year, was completed by more than 1600 decision-makers from a wide range of industries relying heavily on paper forms and manual processes. This included construction, field services, retail, healthcare, manufacturing, government, transportation, and logistics.

In the construction portion of the survey, 36 percent of firms said more than five mobile business apps were used in 2014, and 69 percent of participants see value in integrating them with mobile devices and tools—a six percent increase from the previous year. In 2013, cloud storage use sat at 58 percent, but has since grown to 62 percent. The most popular mobile app features were signature capture at 64 percent, and image capture at 60 percent.

“Construction firms are not only using multiple mobile business apps, but also building and deploying them to their mobile workforces fast than ever before,” said James Quigley, Canvas CEO. “This is an indication businesses of all sizes are shifting from expensive, resource-intensive custom app builds to cloud-based mobile business app solutions. The survey results also reaffirm when construction firms are able to easily share and learn from data collected via smartphones and tablets across the mobile workforce, the cost savings and productivity benefits can be significant.”

  1. As a business owner, it is important to get the money the business has earned as efficiently as possible. In many businesses, workers are still carrying around piles of forms that are critical for ensuring customers are invoiced in an accurate and timely manner. It’s time-consuming!

Many workers push off paperwork and save it until the last minute because it’s the last thing that they want to do. It can sometimes take several hours or even days before these employees file the paperwork, enter the information into the system, and then have accounts receivable invoice the customer. The business apps is a must in modern business world.
