NY developers amend skyscraper plans after push-back

New York City real estate development firm Alloy Development has announced revisions to its 80 Flatbush project in Brooklyn after an outpouring of public concern. Amendments to the proposal, which is being developed with the New York City Educational Construction Fund (ECF), reflect feedback provided over the course of more than 100 meetings with community stakeholders over the past 18 months.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Girls Collaborative (NGC) announced a new partnership, designed to help girls achieve educational goals which will prepare them for future careers in architecture and similar fields. Formed in 2002, the NGC unites organizations across the United States, committed to informing and encouraging girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Architecture billings continue to grow

This year started strong for architecture firms, with the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA’s) Architecture Billings Index (ABI) seeing its highest January score since 2007. The index reflects an increase in design services provided by U.S. architecture firms, with any score above 50 indicating an increase in billings.
