Metal import tariffs cause upset, confusion in U.S. and Canada

In response to President Donald Trump’s announcement last month that the United States would be imposing tariffs on metal imports from Canada, the European Union, and Mexico, the Canadian government introduced dollar-for-dollar retaliation duties. Beginning July 1, a number of U.S. steel products faced fees of 25 percent, while an array of aluminum products cost Canadian importers 10 percent more.

NAFS revision to ease US/Canada fenestration trade

The latest edition of North American Fenestration Standard/Specification for windows, doors, and skylights (NAFS), is now available. Compiled by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA), the update, 101/I.S.2/A440-17, replaces the 2011 edition of the joint standard.
