The Architectural Team (TAT) has completed The Archer Residences, a 62-unit condominium building in Boston’s historic Beacon Hill neighborhood.

TAT’s design solution joins two former Suffolk University buildings into a single, 15,979 m2 (172,000 sf) structure, topped off with a pair of penthouse additions and a landscaped roof terrace.

Led by developers JDMD Owner, LLC, and with interiors by LDa Architecture and Interiors, the project offers 4-m (14-ft) windows and other original elements, plus a mix of one- to four-bedroom units just blocks from Boston Common.

To create a transition between the two distinct six-story structures, TAT stitched them together with a staircase and elevator banks. Their design team also guided the restoration of the 1920s building’s façade and reclad the 1960s modernist building with a new brick and granite skin. Nearly invisible from the street, carefully set-back penthouse additions on the roof create space for residential units and shared garden and amenity areas.

The property blends the area’s history with 21st century convenience. All units feature unique layouts with large chef’s kitchens, open floor plans, and market-leading fixtures and finishes—including rift oak flooring and cabinetry, marble countertops and baths, and prewiring for window treatments and home entertainment systems.
