Architects, engineers, construction professionals, and students came together to the CONSTRUCT 2018 educational conference and expo[2] to expand their knowledge through educational programs, a live demo pavilion, technical tours, hands-on workshops, and presentations by industry leaders.

“The benefit I get from CONSTRUCT is education and meeting people. I meet people from all over the country and have a real conversation. The education is incredible and the amount of people you meet is worth the time you invest,” said Corey Zussman, CONSTRUCT education advisory council member and speaker.

The educational program enabled participants to earn more than 17 hours of continuing education (CE) credits from American Institute of Architects (AIA), Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI), Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), International Code Council (ICC), National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), and RCI. In addition, the first-ever power panel session at CONSTRUCT featured upcoming millennial professionals who dispelled some commonly held beliefs about their generation and what they want for the future.

“Our diverse speakers, representing various disciplines and viewpoints, offered participants a unique opportunity to participate in thought-provoking discussions focused on issues important in the industry today,” said Jennifer Hughes, senior education manager for CONSTRUCT. “Our education advisory council did a phenomenal job in assisting us in developing relevant and engaging topics, and we cannot wait to start planning for CONSTRUCT 2019 in National Harbor, Maryland.”

The three-day event at the Long Beach Convention Entertainment Center included a behind-the-scenes look at the Aquarium of the Pacific expansion, an insider view of the preservation and renovation of the USC LA Memorial Coliseum, and tour of local Long Beach architecture. The workshops included an in-depth look into exterior envelope detailing, and a session where participants got their hands dirty building a wall using air and weather-resistant barrier and continuous insulation (ci).

CONSTRUCT 2019 will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, from October 9 to 11. Registration will open in early June 2019.
