The Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau (PLIB) recently released the latest edition of its grading rules book, WCLB Standard Grading Rules for West Coast & Imported Softwood Lumber, No. 18, 2024. The new rule book replaces the 2022 versions and includes many updates and improvements.

The revised rule book includes many updates and improvements from the previous edition, including changes to the National Grading Rules (NGR), as well as revisions to other grades specific to the WCLB rules, visual clarity and information streamlining to make finding specific rules easier, restructuring of several sections and paragraphs, and expanded and improved data tables, charts, and other graphics.

It also includes improvements to make the book easier to navigate with coil-bound covers that make it tear-resistant.
