SoMA, a premier new luxury rental tower, is the largest completed office-to-residential transformation in the United States.
The former home of JPMorgan Chase, the National Enquirer, and the Daily News, SoMA brings 1,320 apartments to Southern Manhattan, complemented by approximately 9,290 m2 (100,000 sf) of lifestyle amenities.
To reimagine the original building, the development team collaborated with architecture and interior design firm CetraRuddy.
The homes range from studio apartments to three-bedroom residences, including a limited collection of penthouses. The majority of the homes feature an office, and most offer water and skyline views.
Additional hallmarks of the homes include high ceilings, custom Italian kitchens, paneled appliances, an in-residence washer and dryer, custom solar shades, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Additional amenities include a wellness and fitness component, co-working capabilities, and communal outdoor areas.
The building also has a landscaped roof terrace, grilling stations, private dining, and an indoor serenity lounge overlooking Battery Park.
SoMA is the first office-to-residential conversion project to use the $467 million housing tax incentive, which is a key policy of the New York mayor’s housing goal to produce 500,000 units over 10 years.
