This fall, the World Demolition Summit (WDS) will attract thousands of recycling and demolition professionals to Amsterdam, Netherlands.
“The WDS is the event where the global demolition and recycling industry get together to discuss significant projects, as well as trends in demolition techniques and recycling,” said Lindsay Gale, editor of Demolition & Recycling International. “For architects and specifiers, it will provide an extremely valuable insight into how demolition professionals go about their jobs, and help them take into account ‘end-of-life’ considerations when they design and specify new buildings.”
The summit’s presenters include:
Denis McGarel of Brandenburg Industrial Service Company will also present, and he will discuss the company’s work on the removal of a Chicago hospital.
Brandenburg is one of the top five demolition contractors in the world and its work on the removal of the Prentice Woman’s Hospital and Maternity Center in downtown Chicago will be a hot topic at WDS.
McGarel, the vice-president (VP) of sales at Brandenburg, will explain the challenges faced in demolishing a cantilevered nine-storey, four-cylinder tower structure on top of a rectangular five-storey lower structure. Another challenge the company faced was the year-long delay due to a court action to prevent the demolition from happening.
The 2015 awards will take place in the evening following the presentations. Companies have until July 31 to submit entries. Click here for further details.
